What is the difference between polymer lithium battery and lithium iron phosphate battery?

Time: 2021-04-15 16:02:30 Views: 246 Author: Hi-Chipcom

The negative electrode of a lithium ion battery is a carbon material, such as graphite. The positive electrode is a transition metal oxide containing lithium, such as LiMn2O4. The electrolyte is an organic solution containing lithium salt.

Generally, lithium ion batteries do not contain lithium metal. When charging, lithium ions are extracted from the positive electrode lattice under the drive of an electric field, pass through the electrolyte, and are inserted into the negative electrode lattice. When discharging, the process is just the opposite. Lithium ions return to the positive electrode, and the electrons pass through the electrical appliances and reach the positive electrode from the external circuit to recombine with the lithium ions. Since lithium-ion batteries do not contain any precious metals, the raw materials are very cheap, and there is a lot of room for price reduction, so it should be the cheapest battery.

The disadvantage is safety. Due to the good tightness of the metal casing, the battery may generate a hidden danger of explosion when it heats up during use.

Li-polymer batteries are produced on the basis of lithium-ion batteries with polymer electrolytes instead of traditional liquid organic electrolytes. This polymer electrolyte can be used as a medium for conducting ions and as an isolation membrane. In addition, the reactivity with metal lithium is extremely low, so it effectively avoids the easy combustion and easy leakage of lithium-ion batteries. And because the lithium ion polymer battery absorbs the liquid organic electrolyte on a polymer matrix, it is called a colloidal electrolyte. This electrolyte is neither a free electrolyte nor a solid electrolyte, which makes the lithium-lithium polymer battery not only The excellent performance of liquid lithium-ion batteries can also be made into ultra-thin products of any shape and size, making it widely applicable and promising for development. In addition, the safety is better than that of lithium-ion batteries. If heat is generated during use, it will only produce swelling or combustion without exploding.

"Lithium iron phosphate battery" refers to a lithium ion battery that uses lithium iron phosphate as a positive electrode material. The cycle life of long-life lead-acid batteries is about 300 times, and the highest is 500 times for lithium iron phosphate batteries, while lithium iron phosphate power batteries have a cycle life of more than 2000 times. Standard charging (5 hour rate) can reach 2000 times. . Lead-acid batteries of the same quality are "new half a year, half a year old, and half a year for maintenance", which can take up to 1 to 1.5 years, while lithium iron phosphate batteries will reach 7 to 8 years when used under the same conditions. Comprehensive consideration, the performance-price ratio will be more than 4 times that of lead-acid batteries.
